GST Advisory on Payment via Credit Card/Debit Card and UPI effective from 19/01/2024

To enhance the ease of Goods & Services Tax (GST) payments for taxpayers, the online GST e-payment system has incorporated two additional payment channels, complementing the existing net-banking option. The latest inclusions comprise the convenience of Credit or Debit Cards and Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The Credit or Debit Cards category encompasses a range of cards such as Visa, RuPay, Mastercard, and Diners (CC Only), issued by any Indian bank.

In a recent advisory from the GSTN (Goods and Services Tax Network), it has been announced that taxpayers can now make GST payments using Credit Cards (CC) and Debit Cards (DC) such as Visa, RuPay, Mastercard, and Diners. Presently, the facilitation of payments through DC/CC/UPI is in collaboration with Kotak Mahindra Bank, regardless of the issuing bank of Credit Card (CC) and Debit Card (DC) with plans for integration with other banks in progress. The service is currently accessible in 10 states, with expectations of expansion to the remaining states in the near future.
